Tahirpur upazila is known as a backward upazila only because of the communication system, despite having a huge array of natural beauty and resources. The communication system here is very fragile due to Haor, rivers and mountain streams. Boats are the only means of communication here during the monsoon season. However, currently the road communication work is ongoing. On the other hand, during the dry season, hired motorbikes are the only means of communication. The distance from Sunamganj Sadar to Tahirpur is 32 km and the distance from Dharmapasha of Pashwavarti Upazila to Tahirpur is 45 km. The current condition of the internal communication system of this upazila is very fragile.
